Five KAMAZ trucks delivered a detachment of an underwater research unit of the Russian Geographical Society and the Russian Federation of Underwater Sports to two lakes located in the region of the cold pole of the Northern Hemisphere of the Earth.
For several days, from March 6 to 9, underwater explorers plunged under the ice of Lakes Labynkyr and Gates, which are among the coldest reservoirs in the world. Lakes are located in the inaccessible region of Yakutia, away from roads and settlements. Scientists from the Institute of Biological Problems of Cryolithozone of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences worked together with divers. Gateway Lake is located 30 km from Labynkyr. Scientists suggest that there is a connection between them, something like underground channels. KAMAZ was the first wheeled vehicle to enter these places. For the first time in the history of world diving, a dive was made to the bottom of an inaccessible lake.
