JOHN BARRY and Nina van Pallandt 'THE MORE THINGS CHANGE' 1969

A small tribute to the great John Barry who died exactly one year ago today.

Written for, but not featured in the James Bond film, 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'. The 'change' of the title being new James Bond, George Lazenby.

Like Barry's first attempt at a theme song for 'You Only Live Twice' (as recorded by Julie Rogers), 'The More Things Change' was probably his first idea for a song prior to developing 'We Have All The Time In The World'.

Recorded by vocalist Nina van Pallandt at the same sessions she recorded, 'Do You Know How Christmas Trees Are Grown?', which was featured in the film and on the soundtrack album of 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

An almost identical instrumental version of this song was included, along with four other themes from 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service', on Barry's 1970 CBS album, 'Ready When You Are, J.B.'

The photo is, of course, John Barry and Jane Birkin, taken by David Bailey for Vogue magazine.
