Horse Hematoma

Big lumps can appear on horses, and the lumps can have many causes, such as cancer and responses to injuries. In this video, I show a hematoma on my Arab mare Ellie. Another horse probably kicked her. A large soft lump formed. The fluid in the hematoma is blood that the body eventually re-absorbs. If the contents hematoma have turned into serum and pus, the vet will lance it. If the fuild is still blood, then the vet recommends that nature take its course. It may take several months for the blood to reabsorb.
