Inside the Zappi 2 smart electric vehicle EV charger which doesn't need an earth rod on TNCS systems

Gary and Joe take a look inside a Myenergi Zappi 2 electric vehicle (EV) charger EVSE. The Zappi is approved for use with the latest UK government OLEV charging scheme. The unit is packed with smart functions and optimises the car charging with various energy sources such as solar, economy 7 off-peak and on-demand electricity from the grid.

The Zappi EV charger has an extensive set of safety features including a unique PME monitoring circuit which means it can be used on TNCS earthing systems. The system will detect a PEN conductor fault within the electrical distribution network.

Our verdict
The Zappi 2 chargepoint is the Swiss Army knife of electric car chargers. It's well built, delivers loads of useful functions for the owner and solves just about every installation issue an electrician could face.
