Puerto Rico Travel Updates for February 2021

The new executive order starts February 8, 2021 and will be in effect through March 14, 2021.

Curfew is from 12 midnight - 5am.

Masks covering mouth & nose, as well as social distancing, are required in public

Beaches, pools & bodies of water (rivers, lakes, natural pools) are open for small groups, Social distance 10 feet between groups, No alcohol

Stores, businesses & banks may open until 11pm at 50% capacity

Restaurants may open until 11pm at 30% capacity

Gyms are permitted to be open at 50% capacity

Casinos & movie theaters are permitted to open at 50% occupancy

Use of motorized watercraft is permitted. Marinas are permitted to be open. Individual watercraft - kayaks, stand-up paddleboard (SUP), and jet skis - are permitted

Chinchorros, bars, and nightclubs remain closed.

Tourists are permitted on the ferry to Culebra. The ferry to Vieques is limited to residents & emergency personnel only.

The San Juan public transportation systems AMA buses & Tren Urbano continue to operate with COVID restrictions.

Arriving passengers can take a $110 PCR test at Puerto Rico's main airport at terminals A & C (7 days/week; 6 a.m.-12 a.m.). Aerostar is committing to have results ready in 24-48 hours. Passengers need to quarantine until the negative results are ready.

All travelers arriving in Puerto Rico are required to submit a travel declaration with contact tracing info, and either negative COVID-19 molecular-based (PCR) test, take a molecular test in PR and quarantine until negative result, or quarantine for 14 days. The travel declaration form has a checkbox for Vaccine, but currently a negative COVID test is required or quarantine.

Governor Pierluisi plans to open dozens of public schools starting in March 2021.

With a current population of 3.2 million people, Puerto Rico has identified over 157,000 cases and less than 2,000 COVID related deaths to date.

Puerto Rico has vaccinated more than 250,000 people as of February 4, 2021 and continues to vaccinate at 41,000 per week.
