Dog Life Hacks That’ll Change Your Life

In this video, we’ll look at 23 dog life hacks for dog owners to help give your pup better life and make things easier on you.
Prevent chewing
If your pup chews your furniture or cables, spray them with bitter apple. The smell and taste of bitter apple discourage dogs from chewing them.
Freshen their Breath
Parsley is a well-known remedy for bad breath—for both people and dogs. It gets rid of the nasty bacteria that causes bad breath.
If you add a little parsley to your dog's food, it could help to combat stinky dog mouth.
Brushing their Teeth
If your dog is reluctant to do their dental diligence, squeeze some doggie toothpaste onto your pup’s favorite rope or chew toy. This will help to rub the toothpaste on your dog’s teeth and keep their mouth clean and healthy without the hassle of having to brush it yourself.
Eliminate Urine Stains and Odors
Baking soda naturally neutralizes odors. If your dog has peed on carpet, simply sprinkle some baking soda or even an old urine stain, and then vacuum it up to remove the smell or stain completely.
Chicken Popsicle
On hot summer days, you can keep your dog cool and treat them with a healthy and tasty summer treat. Simple fill up an ice cube tray with beef or chicken stock and let your dog enjoy a nice frozen treat.
Your Sign
Print a list of foods that dogs shouldn't eat. It's an excellent reminder and comes in handy when you have a dog sitter.
Protecting their paws
Exposure to winter’s cold and chilly rain, sleet and snow can cause chapped paws and flaking skin. Winter walks can also become dangerous if chemicals from de-icing agents are licked off of bare paws.
Booties help minimize contact with painful salt crystals, and massaging petroleum jelly or Vaseline into paw pads before going outside helps to protect them from salt and chemical agents.
Digging Box
You can keep your garden safe by designating certain areas for digging, or teaching your dog to use their very own digging box.
Shower Cap
Water and soap can irritate a dog’s sensitive ears and eyes. Use a shower cap to keep them protected during the bath time.
Pool party
Many dogs love swimming or hanging out in a doggy pool. Fill an inflatable pool with cool water on hot summer days and stock it with some fun toys.
Music
Classical music can help us relax and decrease our stress levels, but recent studies have shown that certain classical music soothes your pet too. Playing music reduces stress in dogs, lowers their respiratory rates and reduces barking. If your dog barks excessively, or is anxious, use music to calm them down.
Easy hair removal
To remove doggy hair from your carpet or sofa, simply put a pair of rubber gloves on and dampen them. Rub the gloves back and forth on your upholstery. This will cause the hair to ball up, and then you can remove the hair in one simple clump.
You can also use a window squeegee to remove dog hair from your couch, carpet, and car seats.
Force a Dog Throw Up
If your dog has eaten something harmful that they shouldn’t have, like raisins or chocolate, use hydrogen peroxide to make them throw up.
Easy tick removal
Apart from using tweezers, you can apply a glob of liquid soap to a cotton ball, and cover the tick with the soap-soaked cotton ball. Then swab it for a few seconds. The tick will come out on its own and be stuck to the cotton ball when you lift it away.
Downhill Fetch
If it takes a lot to tire your dog out, you can play a game of downhill fetch. Throw the ball down the hill and your dog runs down and back up to retrieve it.
Say goodbye to fleas
Dawn soap breaks down fleas’ exoskeletons, killing them almost instantly. Give your dog a Dawn dish soap bath if they have fleas.
You can also spray apple cider vinegar on your dog’s coat to get rid of fleas. The odor of apple cider vinegar makes dogs less attractive to fleas.
Thunderstorms
In a thunderstorm, it is likely that your pup is more afraid of the weird static building up in their coat than the bright lightnings and loud thunders. Use a dryer sheet to get rid of static electricity in your dog’s coat.
Dog’s scratching post
If you don’t want to trim your dog’s nails, attach sandpaper to a piece of wood and teach your dog to trim their own nails.
Fast Eating Dog
Does your dog scarf down their food too often?
Unfortunately, eating too quickly isn’t good for digestion as it can cause choking, gagging, and vomiting.
The good way to slow down the eating is to put a tennis ball in their food bowl. As silly as it may sound, the tennis ball will force your dog to move it constantly to get to the food; therefore, slowing down their meal time.
Play Hurt
Instead of chasing your dog when they get loose, lie down and pretend to be injured. Your dog will run back to make sure you're okay.
Pillow case bed covers
Use pillowcases to cover your pup’s beds and mats. That way, you can just slip the pillow case off and wash it.
