NASA Astronauts Stuck In Space For Nine Months Splash Down Near Florida | 10 News First

Two NASA astronauts who had been stuck in space for nine months have successfully splashed down on Earth, ending an ordeal that was originally only supposed to last around a week.

Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams arrived back on Earth, touching down in waters off the Florida coast, a short time ago. Spectacular vision from NASA and SpaceX shows the SpaceX Dragon capsule splashing down under parachute.

The duo had originally travelled to space on a Boeing Starliner test flight on June 5. However multiple issues with the capsule saw it return to earth empty, with the duo remaining in space until a SpaceX-lead retrieval mission could take place. That mission had originally been scheduled for February, but further delays pushed it back to March.

The NASA duo will now be transported to hospital for monitoring and recovery after their elongated stay in space.
