A Soft Heart | Advice from Rasulullah ﷺ

Abu Ad-Darda', may Allah be pleased with him, said: "A man who was complaining from heart hardness came to the Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He said: "Do you like your heart to be soft and you meet your needs? Be merciful to an orphan. Rub his head and feed him from your food, your heart will be soft and you will meet your needs." [Authenticated by Al-Albani]

If you give alms openly, it is well, and if you hide it and give it to the poor, it is better for you; and this will do away with some of your evil deeds; and Allah is aware of what you do. (Qur'an 2:227)

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in the Way of Allah, is as the likeness of a grain (of corn); it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains. Allah gives manifold increase to whom He pleases. And Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures' needs, All-Knower. Those who spend their wealth in the Cause of Allah, and do not follow up their gifts with reminders of their generosity or with injury, their reward is with their Lord. On them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve. (Qur'an 2:261-262)

On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), who said: Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Spend (on charity), O son of Adam, and I shall spend on you. (It was related by al-Bukhari, also by Muslim)

The Day when neither money nor sons will profit (anyone), except for him who comes up to Allah with a sound heart. (Qur'an 26:88-89)
