Adorned at Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week with Jaimie Isaac
Vancouver Indigenous Fashion Week (VIFW) showcases the power, beauty and evolution of authentic Indigenous art and design. Founded in 2017 by Joleen Mitton, VIFW brings global recognition to Indigenous fashion designers and artisans while providing talent development to Indigenous youth through mentorship, safe business practices, cultural appreciation, fashion shows, arts and cultural events. VIFW seeks to facilitate reconciliation and deeper understanding between Canada’s Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities through fashion and community.
In celebration of Adorned – an exhibition exploring fashion’s connection to the land and culture – Jaimie Isaac, Chief Curator and Curator of Adorned, is taking AGGV audiences down the runway! The interviews captured during this closing show, titled Spirit of the West Coast, feature just a few of the amazing designers from VIFW 2022, and are an extension of the conversations in the AGGV’s Adorned exhibition.

VIFW is held on the unceded territories of xwməθkwəy̓ əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.
The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria is located on the traditional territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples, today known as the Esquimalt and Songhees First Nations. We extend our gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to live and work on this territory.
