Back onboard another flight with Virgin Atlantic, one of my favourite airlines. I booked this flight during their Boxing Day sale, for £370 return to LA I thought why not.
Luckily for me on this particular flight, it was dead. Probably one of the emptiest long-haul flights I've ever taken. Which was great, meant I had a row to myself and not many people in the forward section of the economy cabin at all. Until after the service at least when a fair few people did move around and space themselves out to be comfortable. One thing you cannot knock Virgin for is the amount of food & drink offerings. Everything is of course complimentary, even alcohol and yes, even in economy. After take off, within the first 90 minutes of flight was a bar round, followed by the main meal service. A hot lunch. This was followed by another drinks & bar service. A few hours later I was offered a fruit ice lolly. A really nice touch and something to enjoy while watching a movie. Just about halfway through the flight, was another bar/drinks round with hot cheese & tomato toasties. Then before landing an afternoon tea offering & again a drinks & bar service. During descent everyone was then also offered "love heart" sweets. A lot of attention to detail and little things which really do go a long way. Something I've always loved about Virgin Atlantic. Compare this to what is currently on offer on BA flights where you get 1 hot meal and a warm sandwich / wrap before landing. No midflight snack or toastie or ice cream. Usually with ticket prices identical between BA & Virgin, you'd be mad to choose BA at this point as Virgin offer far more for your money, particularly in Economy. Perhaps the same cannot be said for their Business class offering and of course Virgin's lack of a real First Class, with their Upper Class cabin only really being a "business" class product.
Also, I love the A350's! The tailcam is an awesome feature to watch and Virgin's Vera entertainment system is really incredible. Very responsive touch screens as well, which can often be a real bug barer of mine. But these were brilliant; huge selection of movies and TV shows as well.
