Niagara (Ordinary Video Series #10, 2014)

Niagara Falls as a surreal and transformative space.

The Ordinary Video Series consists of 50 short haiku-like/minimalist observational documentaries that explore the intersections between digital media, nature, consumer culture, nothingness and socially constructed spaces. The HD videos were shot spontaneously on my consumer grade mobile Smartphone between 2013-2016. The works are non-narrative and seek to explore atmospheres and subtleties; thus moving beyond traditional storytelling and documentary conventions. The videos often (but not always) deploy a long take aesthetic with minimal editing and effects. Some of the pieces utilize natural sound, while others are silent and/or include experimental scores composed by Dr. Brad Decker and others.
