World's largest grasshopper species Valanga irregularis, about 5cm long, male specimen performing 90° climb on glass.
Valanga irregularis (commonly called giant grasshopper or hedge grasshopper). Native to Australian tropics and subtropics. Females reach up to 8cm (3.1inch) in length, males up to 6cm (2.3inch). Females can lay over 100 eggs but these species live very solitary life and do not cause plagues.
