This was it…. The big one, one of the biggest endurance races on the historic motorsport calendar! The Spa 6hrs! My first one and what a CV to live upto, in the previous 4 years the Wilson Elan 26R had picked up class 3 wins with a highest overall finishing position of 7th place, only being beaten by the mighty Ford GT40s! In a race of up and downs and having spent so long of it looking like we were going to finish 2nd, the race played out in our favour including a few late race safety cars to cement the cars 4th win in 5 years!
The event was also part of the Masters Series, in which the new Le Mans Legends series made its debut with cars from the 90s, 00s all the way upto 2012. My favorite of the bunch was the Ferrari 550 GT1 car, the Peugeot 908 HDI, Audi R8 and “Billie” the Aston Martin GT3! I hope to see these out again in the future!
