The distinct() function in Java is used to eliminate duplicate elements from a stream. It returns a new stream of distinct elements.

The distinct() function uses the equals() and hashCode() methods of the objects within the stream to identify and remove duplicates. It is useful when you need to remove duplicate elements from a collection before processing them.

The distinct() function is a stateful intermediate operation. This means that it maintains some state internally to accomplish the operation. It takes no arguments.

In this video, we will learn how to use distinct function available as part of Java streams API.
