Established in 1882], this institution has been a nurturing ground for those seeking to expand their understanding of the universe, philosophy, and humanity's place within it.

Welcome to the International Headquarters of the Theosophical Society (TS) in Adyar, Chennai. Established in 1882 by the founders Helena Petrovna Blavatsky and Henry S. Olcott, the Adyar headquarters holds great historical and spiritual significance. As you explore the premises, you will come across statues honouring Blavatsky and Olcott in the Headquarters Hall, and many special places. It is worth mentioning that the TS had a remarkable second international President, Dr Annie Besant, who played an instrumental role in expanding the Adyar campus to ten times its original size. Dr Besant was not only a strong advocate for Theosophy but also an influential figure in the movement for Indian independence. She resided in the main headquarters building from 1907 until her passing in 1933, leaving behind a lasting legacy.
