The morning commute can be a drag, but for Joakim Malm, an ice guide based in Stockholm, getting around is always an adventure. Malm hits the ice on special long-distance skates. With its unique Nordic landscape of frozen lakes and rivers, long-distance ice skating has existed in Scandinavia for centuries. But with every skate comes the very real threat of falling through thin ice, for which Malm and his friends must always prepare.
