stiles & lydia | everything's changed

Wow—I hadn’t been vidding for almost a year now and getting back to it certainly wasn’t easy, but Stydia deserved it.

I know, technically, there still are ten more episodes before Teen Wolf really ends, but, to me, it sort of feels like it’s already ended. It’s very unlikely that Dylan O’Brien will come back for the second part of the season, except for maybe one last appearance at the very end, which means that we won’t get any more Stiles, and there’s no way the show will feel right or even remotely the same without him. And I think the writers know that, which is why this week’s episode felt a lot more like the whole series finale than just a mid-season one; the Teen Wolf that we have come to know and love over the span of the past six years is gone, and that realization was heartbreaking to me. I sort of grew up watching this show: it taught me things, made me laugh, made me cry, made me fall in love with its complicated story and flawed characters, and, as silly as it might sound given that it is just a show on television after all, I will miss it, terribly, for a very long time to come. I mean, I was rooting for Stiles and Lydia to end up together long before I was in any way familiar with terms such as ‘shipping’ or ‘one true pairing’, they’re the couple that brought me back to vidding in the first place a few years back and the very first video I have ever uploaded on this channel is indeed a Stiles and Lydia one, so there’s just no amount of words that could ever really describe how much they have meant to me throughout this journey. When a show inevitably touches the finish line, especially when it’s run for so long and attracted such a large and passionate fanbase, and you have to say goodbye to it, even if your favorite characters survived despite the terrible odds and your favorite couple is on its way to a rare happily ever after, it’s a sad moment, like being left behind by someone who has supported you for years and years and that you cannot imagine your life without.

Teen Wolf wasn’t perfect. Stiles wasn’t perfect. Lydia wasn’t perfect (though she came close! *giggles*). And Stydia wasn’t perfect, either. But I have loved every single instant of this crazy experience thanks to them. I’m truly grateful to have given this show a chance, to have let this ship nudge its way into my heart somehow, even if it hurts now that reality sank in and we have to part. And, yes, perhaps I’m being a tad over-dramatic here, sue me!, but my teenage years have gone by together with this show and it’s not something that I’m willing to take lightly. So thank you for the memories, y’all, I promise I will cherish them forever.

Oh, and one last, tiiiiiny thing... asdfGHADSFG LET’S BE REAL I HAVE BEEN LITERALLY SOBBING MY EYES OUT OVER STYDIA FOR DAYS NOW AND I DO NOT BELIEVE I WILL EVER STOP??? LIKE, THEY ARE JUST SO BEAUTIFUL TOGETHER AND I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THEIR LOVE????? AND I STILL CANNOT BELIEVE THEY ARE ALMOST FOR SURE (I MEAN!!!) GOING TO BE ENDGAME, BECAUSE THEY WERE HIGHKEY THE LONGEST SLOW BURN IN THE HISTORY OF SLOW BURNS AND I’M SO EMOTIONAL THAT I’M GETTING ALL CHOKED UP JUST THINKING ABOUT IT??? AND NOW I HAVE ALL THE CUTEST HEADCANONS ABOUT THEM BEING ROMANTIC LITTLE SHITS TOGETHER, I’M SO UNWORTHY AND I WILL PROBABLY NEED THERAPY TO RECOVER FROM ALL THESE FEELS I’M FEELING. HASHTAG, NOT EVEN SORRY THO!

TLDR: I hope this video does Stiles and Lydia’s relationship justice, because I really love them and I really tried.
