Bear Encounter on My First Trail Hike in Yellowstone National Park

I ran into a black bear and her cub on my very first trail hike for the summer. This happened on the Beaver Ponds Trail, at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Because the sow and her cub headed in the same direction as the trail ahead, I chose to give them their space and turn back to revisit Beaver Ponds another day...
