Starting Lemon Balm Seeds

Let’s start some lemon balm seeds!
This lemon-scented herb is used for making tea, but has been used to flavor ice cream and candies, make pesto, and eaten fresh. It is said to have a calming effect and is also soothing for upset stomachs.
In this video, Alan uses a small seeder to sow three lemon balm seeds per cell. Sowing three ensures that at least one seed per cell will germinate. The general rule with sowing seeds is to plant a seed about twice as deep as the seed’s width, so Alan gently presses each of these tiny seeds into the soil. Next, an optional step, Alan sprinkles some vermiculite over the cells, which helps with water retention so that the seeds stay moist. Finally, he labels the cells and waters thoroughly!
