Malaysia halts rescue operation for woman who plunged into sinkhole

The desperate search for Indian national Vijaya Lakshmi Gali, who fell into a sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur, has come to a tragic end, Malaysian authorities confirmed on Saturday.

The nine-day multi-agency rescue effort, utilizing a variety of tools and techniques, was unsuccessful in locating Gali, forcing the mission to transition from a rescue to recovery operation.

The decision was made due to concerns over the safety and health of rescue personnel, according to Minister Zaliha Mustafa.
