Best Interests: Sharon Horgan and Jack Thorne on the BBC drama | BFI Q&A
Actors Sharon Horgan and Niamh Moriarty, writer Jack Thorne, director Michael Keillor and executive producer Sophie Gardiner visit the BFI Southbank to talk about Best Interests, a thought-provoking fictional drama.
Married couple Nicci (Horgan) and Andrew (Michael Sheen) have a daughter, Marnie (Moriarty), with a life-threatening condition. The girl’s doctors believe it is in her best interests to allow her to die, but Marnie’s loving family disagree.
Their fight will take them through every stage of a complex legal process, as they contemplate the ramifications of any final decision. It’s a powerful drama that questions who has the right to decide in such a situation, and in whose best interests that decision is made.
