Texas forced to rely on 'the hated fossil fuels' after renewables froze

Economist Alan Moran says Texas needed to rely on “the hated fossil fuels” to heat the state after wind turbines froze in the cold snap.

“The wind did fail as a result of the freezing conditions, gas was also out but gas was much higher than it has been and the Public Utility Commission was very quick to blame wind in the first instance,” he told Sky News host Andrew Bolt.

Mr Moran said as “renewables seem to fall apart very quickly” as has been seen in South Australia and California which were bothforced to rely on fossil fuels after their renewables failed.

“We’ve got the situation where the less we have of fossil fuels, as the Wall Street Journal put it, the more we need them.”
