Government ‘pushing’ misinformation bill to ‘try and censor’ Australians
Sky News host James Morrow says Australians will see the government “pushing” its misinformation bill to “try and censor” people.
Mr Morrow’s comments come after Voice Yes campaigner Thomas Mayo floated the idea of a crackdown on social media, slamming the No campaign for “fearmongering”.
“We’re also seeing now still this kind of Trumpian line from the Yes campaign,” Mr Morrow said.
“People like Thomas Mayo saying, 'Oh, it wasn’t because of a bad idea that it lost – it was because of misinformation.
“We’re going to see the government pushing its misinformation bill still to try and censor what you can say – what people can say online.
“Try to get the social media companies to ban you.”
