Faith vs. Trust

Two of the most important responses that you and I can have to God is
1) To have Faith in God and
2) To Trust God

The question is what is the difference between having faith in God and trusting Him? This always used to confuse me.
I was never sure if I was walking in faith or if I was trusting God. If I was trusting Him and not in faith, maybe both... maybe neither.
I was never sure. But here is a explanation in a nutshell.

To have faith in God is to be confident in the person of God. To have faith in God is to be confident in His character,
knowing that He is not a man that he would lie. If He said He would do it, then He is going to do it. I have faith in who He is.

To trust God is different.
To trust God is to be committed to what God has said. No matter how fill or no matter what the situation may be in life.

You see throughout the Bible we see this to be true. Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego; they said our God is going to deliver us from this fire
But if He does not, we will not compromise. In other words, they were going to remain committed to God's directives in their lives and
that they would not worship anybody else. No matter what the circumstances
No matter what the pressure, no matter how many hardships they go through. They were going to remain committed.
In other words they are going to stay trusting God's ways and not their plan B on how to escape the fire.

So throughout Scripture we also see something else that is important about trusting God.
The moment somebody trusted God enough to stay committed to God's directives in their lives God opened up a brand new future for them.
For instance Abram. God told Abram, "Abram leave everything behind. Leave your parents behind, leave your family (relatives) behind,
leave your country behind. Come to a place that I'm calling you to".
The moment Abram committed himself to God's directives in his life (because he trusted the Word of God enough)
God open up a brand new future for him where all the blessings of Abraham became true for him.

We see the same in the life of Ruth. The moment Ruth committed herself to Naomi that is the moment that her future with Boaz opened up.

When you and I trusted the work of the cross, a brand new future called eternity with the Father opened up for you and I.

Now finally the Bible says, "those who trust in the Lord will be like Mount Zion which cannot be shaken".

You see the entire year lies ahead of you. And God did not promise you a year without storms, a year without challenges
He did not promise you no troubles in this next year but He did say that if you would trust Him, in other words if you would stay committed to His
principles, stay committed to His Word, stay committed to His ways that you find within Scriptures, then does not matter what troubles come your way you will remain stable and strong and you will be unmoved just like Mount Zion.
