Motorcycle Adventure - Kyrgyzstan

In June '16 we took the opportunity to explore this gorgeous Central Asian country. We rented Yamaha XT 600 s with adventure fuel tanks, which were more than adequate for the situations we encountered on and off road.

The Kyrgyz' scenery is best described as a mix between the rough beauty of the Alps and the charm of the high plains of Mongolia. A little visited country, it barely registers on the usual tourists' list.

The locals are friendly, helpful and genuinely interested, so getting around is very easy. Some grasp of the Russian language is recommended, but we scraped by without.

Be prepared to enjoy the pleasures of sleeping in traditional Yurts, drink horse milk and be puzzled by the amount of horses and other livestock.
As for cultural richness; remember this is a formerly nomadic people, so the culture is much more present in the people than in historical sites.

There are barely any 2-wheeled vehicles in the country, except for toys. YOU are the attraction while riding there.
When leaving the settlements, be prepared to encounter noone. Just noone. Except for the sparse yurts scattered for the shepherds.
