Newly Discovered Brain Region Function | Cerebellum Influences Addictive and Social Behavior

Today, a study published in Science, led by Kamran Khodakhah, Ph.D., at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, proves that the cerebellum helps control addictive and social behavior. The cerebellum has long been thought to mainly control motor coordination. More recently there were hints, but no explanation, of an association of this brain region with addiction. In this video, Dr. Khodakhah explains how his research uncovered the mechanism behind this connection and how it may pave the way for finding new treatments for addiction and conditions such as autism spectrum disorder.
