Lakers News: JR Smith Signs, Dwight Howard Latest + Lakers Trade Rumors On Javale McGee & Seth Curry

The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to make a real push in the 2020 NBA playoffs when they return to play in Orlando. One way they will look to do that is by replacing Avery Bradley with JR Smith. Jr Smith officially signed his contract for the rest of the season on July 1st and will wear number 21 while he is playing with the Los Angeles Lakers. JR Smith is fourth all-time in career three pointers made in the NBA Finals behind just Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and JR Smith’s teammate, LeBron James. JR Smith will come off the bench for the Lakers along with guys like Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, Dwight Howard, Markieff Morris and Dion Waiters.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ offseason is likely going to be focused on Anthony Davis, but if they are looking to make some noise in the trade market, they could look to make a trade for Dallas Mavericks’ guard Seth Curry. Seth Curry has been one of the best three-point shooters in the NBA this season at 45.3 percent. Historically, he is also one of the absolute best, as he trails just Steve Kerr in three-point percentage leaders. In this hypothetical trade, the Lakers would be trading Alex Caruso, JaVale McGee and a second-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks for Seth Curry.

The only other player that may opt out of playing in Orlando with the Los Angeles Lakers is Dwight Howard. Dwight Howard has been one of the best big men off of the bench in the entire NBA this season. He’s averagine 7.5 points per game, 7.4 rebounds and finishing more than 70 percent of his shots from the field this season. Dwight Howard has not made a decision on whether or not he will play in Orlando, but head coach Frank Vogel is confident that he will join the team in Walt Disney World.
