Ergoslider Plus: Ergonomic Pointing Device Review!

The Ergoslider Plus is a unique centralized cursor control device that aims to help users by bringing comfort to the cursor navigation experience. It's central location removes the need to constantly reach out for the mouse, and with the extra-cushioned wrist pad, you’re even sure to notice a difference in your work routine.

When the nice people are Fersgo reached out to me and offered to send one to review, I had to say yes because I’ve never seen anything like it!

It does take some time to get used to using it, but after some time I do see the benefit in using it over a regular mouse or even a track pad in some cases. I think this would be a really great pointing device for people who suffer from repetitive strain injury or those who suffer pain and movement impairment in the shoulder. The companies literature even goes on to talk about how it can encourage good posture and reduce a numb feeling wrist if that’s something that happens to you. And apparently it’s even helpful is you have Carpal Tunnel or Tendinitis.

The Ergoslider Plus comes with a reasonably long traditional USB connector making it pretty easy to integrate into any desk setup.

I would recommend this device be used more with a desktop than a notebook, but it will work with either. I tried it with my MacBook Pro and a Dell XPS13 at home and on a Dell windows desktop at work, and it worked flawlessly with all! I also tried it on my Mac mini home entertainment system, it worked pretty well there too, but because it does require a cable it was a bit inconvenient for the living room having to run a cable from the TV to the Couch.

Once you’re used to the Ergoslider Plus it’s very user friendly with a really good build quality and feels very sold when using it.

The settings for the device are very simple, as you just use the mouse settings to control it’s actions. So if you find the default behaviour of the device too fast/slow you can simply go to system preferences and open the mouse settings and you will be able to change the tracking, scrolling and double click speeds.

And speaking of clicking, all of the buttons on the Ergoslider plus have a very satisfying click that sounds like a regular mouse. The Precision roller at the top of the device has a really nice grippy feeling and is easily removable for cleaning too!

This has to be the most unique pointing device I’ve every used, and it’s been a great experience. I would recommend this for anyone that works at a desk and experiences pain and movement impairment in the shoulder, carpal tunnel or tendinitis. I think this would also be very useful for people who are concentrating on improving their posture as well. And finally, I think if you’re an old school “liner” or a an avid programmer this could also be very useful as you don’t have to stray far from the keyboard when you need to move the cursor!

In Closing, I think the Ergoslider Plus is a great evolution in cursor control!
