The Chironomidae (informally known as nonbiting midges, or lake flies) comprise a family of nematoceran flies with a global distribution. Known as "lake flies" in parts of Canada and near Lake Winnebago in Wisconsin, but "bay flies" in areas near Green Bay, Wisconsin.
