Summer Boat Trip Part 3 (EP 21)

This is part 3 of our summer boat trip out to the San Juan Islands. We left Langley on Whidbey Island and stopped in Oak Harbor for fuel before heading up through Deception Pass and up to Sucia Island. We were thinking of anchoring in Fox Cove but our friends got there first and decided to go to Shallow Bay instead. A -1.7 foot tide made things interesting... thank goodness for the Raymarine RealVision 3D bottom imaging! We then had a relaxing couple of nights to chill out and enjoy the island. Sucia Island is a state park that is only accessible by boat. They do have mooring buoys for boaters as well as several campsites throughout the island as well as several miles of hiking. It is rich is sandstone that they use to mine there. The formations that have taken place over the years from the water pounding the shores are breathtaking! We took the dinghy over is Little Sucia where it is a breeding ground for animals and birds.
