8GB VS 16GB RAM on the New M1 MacBook – How Much RAM do you need?

With the new M1 Macs and M1 MacBooks this year, we have seen some changes in chipset and also RAM/Memory amounts. One question is that is being asked is 8GB VS 16GB RAM on the New M1 MacBook – How Much RAM do you need?

To be fair with the new ARM64 architecture on the Apple Silicon M1, most of us only need 8GB of RAM.
Really there are only a couple of reasons you should upgrade to the 16GB - if you have the money and can afford it, or you're doing a LOT of heavy video editing, rendering, 3D modelling, photo editing, or you're a developer and doing all of these activities at the same time!
