Victoria’s Suburban Rail Loop a ‘dark tunnel of debt to who knows where’

Cartoonist Mark Knight explains his ‘Debt Black Hole’ sketch for Victoria’s state budget.

Mr Knight went through a long list of axed projects but expressed his surprise to see Vic Treasurer Tim Pallas stick with a particular “pet project”.

“But we have kept the Suburban Rail Loop, which is this sort of mystery, hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars cost for this rail line,” he told Sky News host Steve Price.

“I thought, well, we are all going to be on this beautiful little train, the Suburban Rail Loop, where we are going to be going down that dark tunnel of debt to who knows where.”
