Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort to end season early due to lack of snowfall

A major Northern California ski resort is ending its season early after a rough few months of inconsistent snowfall. "Saying this is a tough call is an understatement," a news release from Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort said, explaining that the slopes are closing after this Sunday. "Our team gave it everything we had. Moving snow, patching runs together, enduring some record high temperatures. But even with this recent dusting, we're losing some key throughways and it's time to wrap it up." The California Department of Water Resources called this water year for snow one of the worst on record, after an inarguably disappointing final snow survey on April 2.
