Africa is splitting in Two, 6000KM crack - Afar Triangle. Great Rift Valley #historyshorts

Africa isn’t as stable as it looks.

Beneath the surface, the Earth is slowly pulling itself apart along a massive fracture known as the Great Rift Valley — stretching over 6,000 kilometers from Ethiopia to Mozambique.

This isn’t caused by earthquakes or a single eruption.
It’s driven by tectonic plates — the Nubian Plate and the Somali Plate — gradually moving away from each other.

At the center lies the Afar Triangle, one of the thinnest and hottest places in Earth’s crust, where magma rises and the land sinks a few millimeters every year.

In 2005, the Dabbahu eruption created a massive crack visible from space — proof that this process isn’t theory… it’s already happening.

Over millions of years, water from the Red Sea and Indian Ocean could flood in, forming a new ocean and splitting Africa into two separate continents.

This is how continents change — slowly, silently, and then all at once.
