What If The Hyuga Fell Instead? (Part 2)

The concept of the Hyuga falling instead of the Uchiha is one that has always interested me, not because it was possible, but because it wasn’t. Alright, maybe “Impossible” isn’t the right word. More like “Improbable”. You see, the concept was actually canonically talked about at least once, particularly by grab-hands Danzo who was jealous of Ao’s Byakugan, and stated that he would not hesitate to destroy the Hyuga if Ao’s usage of the Byakugan had happened because of treason. The point of the matter is though, excluding any outside forces wanting to destroy them for no reason, and excluding a single rogue head of the clan, the Hyuga were unable to rebel, because the entire clan save for the head of the clan was under such control and a strict caste system the ensured that they never had the freedom of choice to rebel. It functioned very much like a hive of honey bees. You had the queen, and you had those bees who were candidates to becoming queens, but then you were surrounded by workers who had one job and one job only, that is to do their job assigned to them by birth until they die without change or choice and be willing to sacrifice anything to protect this way of life. That’s how the Hyuga Work. They’re tightly knit, for better or worse, and your uncles and distant cousins generally have control over you. The only choice you get is how to die, and even then, that might get taken away. But the point is, there could be no rebellion because of this, and the single reason, the crux of Hyuga Control, was the Curse Mark of the Caged Bird. This ensured that your Byakugan were the property of the Hyuga Clan that you could not use or trade under any circumstances, and your life was theirs to command and control. If you stood up against them, you would be punished, your brain fried. So there wasn’t as much of a choice to stop them. This was effective, and in one particular view, was even a form of responsibility. But there comes a point where responsibility becomes cruelty, and that’s where the Hyuga failed. Yeah, they remained loyal to the Leaf, but at what cost? A while back, we began exploring a world where the Hyuga suddenly lost control of one of their most disgruntled users which lead to their downfall. Let’s see what happens next.
