Lapping my granite surface plate2
In this video, I finish lapping my granite surface plate. It was, in my opinion, relatively easy to achieve a high degree of accuracy with basic tools both for measuring and lapping. The only high precision tool that was used was a Clock gauge calibrated in microns bought online very cheaply!. I used a cast iron surface plate that came out of a skip (dumpster) as a lap and built my own "Repeatometer" to measure it. I found that although somewhat daunting, it was much easier to lap in the granite plate than I thought it would be! Don't hesitate to do this at home, but, I will not be responsible for any accidents derived from this video!
