Varanasi Math is Ist Math of Gowd Saraswat BrahminSamaj established in 1475AD by Shri Narayan Teertha Shripad Wader Swamiji,Ist pontiff of Shri Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math (in Short Gokarn Math). After taking SanyasaDeeksha in Badarikashram(Badrinath) from 10th Pontiff Shri Ramachandra Teertha Swamiji of Palimaru Math of Udupi. Shri Narayan Teertha Swamiji came to PanchagangaGhatto observe Ist Chaturmas in Varanasi. It is said in Anand Ramayana Shri Ramachandra constructed this Ghat in Varanasi in his Vanavas period and observed Chaturmas on the way to Lanka. King of Varanasi gifted the this land on PanchagangaGhatand Temple with Shri Laxminarayan idol in 1475 AD. It is first GSB Math in Varanasi. Many Swamiji’s of Math Parampara observed Chaturmas in Varanasi. Present Swamiji Shri Vidyadhiraj Teertha Swamiji 23rd of Math parampara observed 49th Chaturmas and IInd in Varanasi.Ist in 1978 and 2008 Chaturmas with KartikamasaKalpavas.
