Media Conference 2020: Live Webinar ft. Refilwe Moloto, Farai Mubaiwa, Caroline Petersen

In July 2020 Varsity Newspaper held their annual media conference virtually on Zoom and Instagram Live platforms - with the theme being "The Digital Demand".

Refilwe Moloto
Refilwe Moloto is a strategic and economic advisor with 15 years' financial services experience. Ms. Moloto is also a commentator and thought leader on strategic economic & financial market development in Africa, invited to speak at global technical conferences and in the media. She currently anchors the morning show, Breakfast with Refilwe Moloto, which airs on the Western Cape’s leading talk radio station, CapeTalk.

Farai Mubaiwa
Farai Mubaiwa is a Partner Management Lead at Youth Employment Service (YES). She is the co-founder of the youth-led organization Africa Matters that empowers young Africans to lead through leadership skills, capacity building and community-impact projects. Farai is a Queen’s Young Leader for South Africa for 2017, a TEDx speaker, a One Young World Ambassador and a King’s Principal’s Global Leadership Award Recipient. In 2018 she was named as one of the top 100 Mandelas of the future by Media24. She is a Dalai Lama 2019 Fellow and this year she was rated as one of the top 100 Influential Young South Africans.

Caroline Petersen
Caroline Petersen is a features and lifestyle journalist at FAIRLADY Magazine - one of the longest running and most popular South African women's monthly magazines. Caroline started her journey as a lifestyle blogger while in high school. When she began her journey at UCT studying a Bachelor of Arts in Multimedia Production, Media & Writing and Film & Television Studies. Caroline became the Online Features Editor for VARSITY Newspaper in 2018 as well as the Social Media Director for Her Campus UCT in 2018. She graduated with distinction in all three of her majors. Today, Caroline has expanded to work as a freelancer, opening herself up to more opportunities within and outside Media24.
