Ford Ranger Sport 4X2 (T6 - P703) - POV City Drive

This is a point-of-view driving video of the Sport 4x2 variant of the 2nd-generation T6-based Ford Ranger (P703) which was filmed during a Ford event (Ford Island Conquest Year 6). The Ford Island Conquest 2023 (Year 6) - 1st Leg was an event held from May 19 to 21. This was an event that gave people the opportunity of driving the all-new Ford Ranger Raptor on an off-road trail since the said vehicle was firstly introduced to the Philippine market during this event (it also gave people the opportunity to drive the Everest Titanium 4x4 and Ranger Wildtrak 4x4 off-road). There were some available test drives on-road as well (4x2 variants of the Everest and Ranger, and the all-new Territory). This was in Arca South Interactive Park in Taguig City, Philippines. This was filmed on May 21. This video was made in collaboration with John Agustin Scuderia and Julian Dumpit. Thank you to Ford Philippines, Mr. Redge Basinio, and Ford Otis Manila (Autohub Group) for making this test drive possible. Thank you to Mr. Matthew as well, for being the driving instructor during this off-road drive.

Impressions/observations during the test drive:
The 2023 Ranger Sport exterior design is nicely done and definitely has some good road presence, especially because of its LED headlight design combined with the gray/black front grille. The exterior has no chrome in it, which gives it more of a sporty look. Moving into the interior, the design and materials are all good quality. The use of darker colors is similar to the Hilux GR-S. However, that is their only similarities since the Ranger has more screens which make it more technologically advanced. This is probably the most technologically advanced interior amongst its midsize truck competition, so far. It also has a fun application in the infotainment screen where one can draw random things (only when the vehicle is stopped and shifted to park).
The single turbo diesel engine in this one is definitely not lacking in performance, because it is more than enough to move this truck around. Its acceleration is as good with its competition. In comparison to the Rangers and Everests with the twin-turbo diesel engine, this one slows down a little bit in regards to its acceleration, when it reaches high speeds already. It is not too much though, and the engine output still feels adequate for this truck. In eco mode, the engine feels more restricted the power and torque being used. There is no sport mode, but to make the engine more responsive, normal mode may be used. Both of its gas and brake pedals respond well enough to the driver's inputs. Transferring the power from the engine to the wheels is a 6-speed auto which felt smooth during this drive. It also responds well in manual mode, though the way to shift in manual mode is not the usual paddle shifters or the push-or-pull-gear-lever-to-shift. To shift in manual mode, one would need to use the +/- button on the gear lever itself which although quite different from the other trucks in this class, is something that is easy to get used to. In regards to the steering weight, it is still the lightest compared to the previous pickup trucks previously featured in this channel (D-Max, Hilux GR-S, BT-50 4x4, Navara Pro-4X). It is quite easy to turn with just one hand on the steering wheel. The ride comfort provided by the suspension and the sound insulation of this truck is impressive.
