RYE OR BOURBON IN AN OLD FASHIONED? TASTE TEST! Irish Girl makes Cocktails at home | Ciara O Doherty

In todays episode of Cocktails with Ciara, I am making the classic Old Fashioned cocktail, and I'm doing a taste test to figure out whether I like a Rye or Bourbon Old Fashioned better!

So what is an Old Fashioned and where does it come from? Let's take a brief look at the history of the Old Fashioned Cocktail. It's one of the oldest, if not THE oldest cocktails out there! The first mention of the cocktail itself on record dates all the way back to the early 1800's, and way back then, the drink was referred to as "Old Fashioned"

🥃 Old Fashioned 🥃
✨Ingredients:
2 oz whiskey (Bourbon or Rye)
2 dashes of Angostera bitters
1 sugar cube
1 orange to garnish
Maraschino Cherry

✨Method:
Soak a sugar cube in a few dashes of bitters, add a barspoon of water and muddle to make a paste.
Add the Rye or Bourbon
Stir for 30 seconds to chill ingredients
Peel a segment of orange
Roll and twist the peel over the glass to release the oils into the drink
Rub the peel round the rim to enhance flavour before adding the both peel twists to the glass
