Trinidad and Tobago on Election of non-permanent members of the Security Council | United Nations

Informal comments to the media by Sean Sobers, Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago, on Election of non-permanent members of the Security Council for the term 2027-2028.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Foreign Minister Sean Sobers said, “since independence, 64 years ago, Trinidad and Tobago has upheld the rule of law, championed human rights, strengthened international law, and never been silent in the face of injustice. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to the UN charter, international law, and the rule of law.”

Sobers said, “our campaign building consensus for the realisation of sustainable peace and security will guide our engagement on the Council as you pledge to foster dialogue and bridge differences amidst the multiplicity of complex challenges confronting the international community.”
