LSC Partners in Science at Princeton University

New Jersey high school students Alexander Kelser and David Horsfield discuss their work as interns during the summer of 2013 at the PRISM Imaging and Analysis Center at Princeton University.

Horsfield and Kelser came to Princeton as part of the Liberty Science Center Partners in Science Program. The highly competitive, eight-week summer program for high school juniors and seniors pairs students with mentors in science, health and technical fields and challenges them to participate in ongoing research and independent projects.

The Imaging and Analysis Center implements high-end, state-of-the-art instrumentation for imaging and analysis to stimulate materials research and education at Princeton. Located in Bowen Hall, the home of the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (PRISM), the IAC is also an integral part of the Princeton Center for Complex Materials (PCCM), funded by the National Science Foundation]. The IAC supports many of PRISM's activities such as the Mid-InfraRed Technologies for Health and the Environment (MIRTHE), Princeton Physical Sciences-Oncology Center (PPS-OC), and Combustion Energy Frontier Research Center (CEFRC). Funders include the National Science Foundation, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, the Office of Naval Research, the State of New Jersey, ExxonMobil, and Johnson & Johnson.
