Over the course of thousands of years, other Eurasian populations would swoop in and either displace, assimilate or intermix with these ancient Southern Eurasian populations, breaking the genetic continuity between them, although their genetic links are still apparent in unmixed populations such as the Sri Lankan Veddas, native Andamanese and Australian Aboriginals, with the Andamanese being somewhere in the middle of this Southern Eurasian continuum.
