Japan Launches New HTV-X Cargo Rocket to the International Space Station | JAXA Mission Success |APT

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) successfully launched its HTV-X1 cargo spacecraft aboard an H3 rocket from Tanegashima Space Centre on Sunday.

The new uncrewed spacecraft is heading to the International Space Station (ISS) on a resupply mission, carrying nearly 5.85 tonnes of cargo — about 1.5 tonnes more than its predecessor, the Kounotori.

JAXA President Hiroshi Yamakawa confirmed that - “The H3 rocket No. 7 carrying the HTV-X1 was launched at 09:00 local time. The first HTV-X separated approximately 14 minutes and 4 seconds after liftoff. We have confirmed that HTV-X1 has begun flight towards the International Space Station.”

The HTV-X is built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and is designed to stay docked to the ISS for up to six months, delivering vital supplies and scientific equipment to support astronauts on board.
