Julia Segre is a 15 year old poet and athlete from Berkeley. She started writing in her 7th grade English class, as part of her school's Oratorical Fest. Since then, she has been writing as a way to explore topics such as femininity, queerness, identity, and religion. Her poems are a celebration of rhythm, slant rhyme, alliteration, and precision. She currently serves as an Alameda County vice youth poet laureate (and a member of SPOKES!). When not writing, you can find her playing or coaching Ultimate Frisbee, baking, or playing guitar.

Through the intersection of arts education and youth development practices, civic engagement strategies, and high quality artistic presentation, Youth Speaks creates safe spaces that challenge young people to find, develop, publicly present, and apply their voices as creators of societal change.
