Historically, the HMS Victory was a 104 gun ship-of-the-line of the Royal Navy, launched in 1765, and served minimally in the American Revolutionary War. Later on, she fought in the two battles of Ushant, the Siege of Gibraltar, and the Battle of Cape St. Vincent.
After reconstruction, she continued service during the Napoleonic Wars, and it was during this time under the command of Admiral Horatio Nelson that she fought in the renowned Battle of Trafalgar, where she drove into the French battle line, and pounded enemy ships with her guns. Though the British and the HMS Victory emerged victorious, Nelson died by a gunshot wound, and Victory was severely damaged. She was decommissioned and is now on display to the public.
