Why Extended Warranties May Not Be A Good Idea
Extended warranties offer some appeal. After all, they cover an item after the regular warranty expires. But there is more than meets the eye with these products.
Most of the time, only 12% of your premium goes to cover the product in extended warranties. The rest of what you pay goes to comissions, fees, overhead, and profit.
As a financial coach, I'd recommend instead having a solid sinking fund or emergency fund to fix the issues that come up, as well as regularly scheduled maintenance of high ticket items.
