Mapped Network Drive Fails to Connect to Network or NAS Share. - Windows 10

Bob Pellerin “CTOBOB” addresses a problem a client and some viewers had with network shares no longer working after a Windows 10 update.

Symptom: Windows 10 fails to connect and does not prompt for the username and password.

Solution:

Bob highlights several different ways to resolve this issue. He assumes that the network share on a Windows server or on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) or SAN hasn’t changed.

Tools required:
PowerShell (NET USE)
Command Prompt
Registry Editor

Update (June 2021):
I am still seeing this problem after updates. The updates that were installed were KB5003254 and KB5003637. Uninstalling them did not resolve the issue. using the PowerShell NET USE command did fix it.
