The movie version of Pet Sematary left out most of the details about the book's central antagonist: The Wendigo.

The history of The Wendigo from Pet Sematary is quite involved and stretches all the way back as far as the 1600s. The 1989 film version of Pet Sematary leaves out any direction mention of The Wendigo, leaving in only a few loose references. The 2019 remake looks to play a bigger part, but has not yet been released at the time of making this video.

In this video, I'll be covering entire history of the Wendigo from it's introduction in Pet Sematary to the role it may have played in Stephen King's 1999 novel The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon.

I'll be analysing this monster and discussing what it represents in terms of the story, and explaining how it fits into the universe of Stephen King works.

This will cover some of the similarities and differences between King's Wendigo and the real life legend created by the Algonquin Tribe. We'll also discuss how the Wendigo in the story cursed the Mic Mac burial ground in Ludlow, Maine and how that curse affected people hundreds of years later.
