Postal Jeep In The Shop, Seats Out
About three years ago I bought a beater 1973 AM General Postal Supervisor's Jeep on an absolute whim. The engine was wrecked, and the rest of it was not much better.
A shade-tree mechanic young acquaintance of mine, who has worked on my 1951 Willys Pickup, and is the guy who told me about the postal Jeep, started to do some engine work and determined that at the very least it was going to need a bottom end rebuild. Then he went to jail for some infraction or another, so that was the end of him working on it.
A much more reliable young aviation friend of mine took me in hand, and helped me remove (did all the hard work while I watched....) and rebuild the engine, something I had never done before. We had a rear main seal leak in spite of taking a great deal of care on that, but the real cause of having to do it twice was me being cheap, and not wanting to pay for a crankshaft grinding. So, we pulled it, I found a guy to rebuild and regrind the crankshaft, and we (my friend) put it back in again.
And there it has sat for most of 2019 and all of 2020. It needs a fuel system starting with a new tank. I've bought the tank but I'm not sure if it's going to fit. I'm pretty sure I bought the wrong straps, and of course I've never done anything like this before, so it's going to be an adventure.
This is my "get off your ass and get working on it" day, where I decided it was finally time to get it out of the rain and into the garage for a month or so to do the main work, like the fuel system and the sheet metal work and maybe the wiring update.
I welcome any and all comments and suggestions on how to proceed with this... within reason that is....
Thanks for watching, and if you want to help me on this project please consider subscribing to the channel.

Did I mention I'm 70 and not particularly strong or flexible?
